Jason Warner Talks Good

A well-eyebrowed fellow is sitting down with his head in his hands and is looking at the camera with an expression that says, "You and me are gonna have a great time working together."

Well hello there. Say, do you happen to be looking for a General American / Northeast American / Boston voice that delivers warmth, wit and wryness, with a dynamism & flexibility that makes it suitable for anything from narration to corporate to animation? You will be relieved to know that your search has come to an end.

(If you’re looking for a web designer, I insist that you keep looking)

Voice Over Demos and Booked Work

Gaming Demo, produced by ioAudio, and directed (during a June hailstorm) by Donald Pirie
Animation Demo, produced by Austen Moret
Commercial Demo, produced by Austen Moret
Playing the (haughty, drunk, hungry) ghost of Orson Welles (from the Beyond Help audio drama podcast)
Narrator for video game development podcast, “The Loot”
Ad for AmFirst Insurance, playing a (slightly Jewish) pigeon; my voice has been pitched up
When people called the Angry Orchard hotline, they heard this angry voice (followed a rapid-fire disclaimer voice, featuring some of my own ad-libs)
Outdoor brand Sierra’s “Fnd Your Playpals” campaign
NOT calm Boston accent for animated show
Ad for Champion pet food brands
This is the character of Martin from his single episode appearance on the audio-only sitcom, Thank Goodness It’s Family. May we all go our entire lives without being trapped by him at a social gathering. Please note that the script did not ask me to sing, but I did.

Look! I’m on video, too!

An ad for Lemonade Insurance. In England, where I live, lemonade is a carbonated drink that’s slightly lemony. This makes me sad, but then I remember that we have the NHS, and butterflies spontaneously appear and sing happy songs to me.
I wrote a custom monologue to win this role, and now you get to hear my passable, unoffensive, generic England accent.
Were you aware that walls could move like this?! I just changed your life. You’re welcome.
Look, I have complicated feelings about AI, especially as a voice over artist; I don’t want a future where all films look like this. But could a niche develop where some of them look like this, enabling creators to express their vision with limited resources? I’m open to that. Plastic Pictures explains their experiment on LinkedIn.
Just because there was nothing in the script that mentioned a song about cupcakes, doesn’t mean I’m not gonna improvise a song about cupcakes. You need to know this about me. In a future episode of this series – a series all about promoting games for the Playdate video game console by the way – my final line in the script was merely, “DE-DE-DE-DEVAN” and that was all the excuse I needed to turn it into another improvised song.

About me

This is what I look like in color.

Hello! I’m Jason, an experienced, versatile voice over artist recording from my broadcast-quality studio in Devon, UK. I’m originally from Massachusetts, so my warm, wry, relatable voice is of the General American variety, with easy access to Northeast American and Boston. With an extensive background in theatre, comedy and improv, I’m an adaptable, enthusiastic collaborator and I excel in live directed sessions. That background also makes me tremendously flexible, able to bring life to all manner and tone of scripts, from corporate to commercial to animation. My age range is young adult to middle aged. VO is my full time job, so I can turn around work and any revisions quickly.

In addition to that background, I’ve consistently invested in VO training and classes, such as:
* 1 on 1 coaching, group classes and an intensive with Voice on Demand; you can see me at the bottom of this page!
* Several classes with Actors Connection
* 14-day intensive with Shelly Shenoy

My voice has been used for Lemonade Insurance, Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), internal corporate training, several indie audio dramas, an indie audio sitcom, several true crime podcasts and even a posh, flustered British historian (as seen in the video above!).

When I’m not on the microphone, I enjoy walking my objectively beautiful Hungarian Vizsla-Springer Spaniel dogs, savor my collection of several dozen artisan chocolate bars, sing a resonant baritone in the folksy Wild Goose Choir, and listen to far too many comedy, film and politics podcasts at 1.5X speed.

Studio details and samples

I work from my broadcast-quality studio in the beautiful (and pothole-strewn) county of Devon, UK, consisting of:

  • Rode NT1-A and Scarlett Solo 4th generation
  • Reaper DAW – latest version
  • iZotope RX 10 Standard
  • MacBook Air M1

This studio achieves an industry standard noise floor of at least -60db and is equipped with a fast, stable, wired internet connection, which has worked perfectly for live directed sessions. I can quickly produce professional, cleanly-edited audio, in whatever format you need.

Here are some samples recorded in this space:

I wrote this script for an audition for Quilt Software! Sometimes, auditions just ask you to send previous examples of your work. And to that, I say, “Is that a challenge to write a custom script?!” The company can not hear this. I’m shouting in my own room. My dogs are concerned.
You know what, I wrote this one too for a credit union.
You’re never gonna believe this: I also wrote this one for a cannabis gummies brand. Eh, the voices aren’t the most distinctive, but listen to that tagline.
Okay this one I didn’t write, for a horse medicine brand called Equinity. This is about as close as I can get to a cowboy voice.

Contact

I also can’t believe the book went there.

No matter how much I’m knowingly chuckling at a witty bon mot when you contact me, I’ll always respond promptly to your email:
